Amazing Grace

How sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me.

Amen.

It Is Well, With My Soul

When peace, like a river,
attendeth my way,

When sorrows like sea
billows roll;

Whatever my lot, Thou has
taught me to say,

It is well, it is well, with my soul.

A local newsstation did a special on Monday about miracles. My friend Jennifer and her husband Benji were interviewed. Jennifer survived a near-drowning. She and her husband credit God for allowing her to live to share her testimony of the miracles He still works today. On the website for the station you can leave comments about their articles. One person left comments about how people always praise God when the outcome is good but always blame God when the outcome is bad. I stopped and said a prayer for this person, that whatever has happened to them in their life that they are so bitter toward the One who created them and that God will send a Christian into this person's life to show them God's love in all situations. A lot of bad happens in all of our lives, but as we often hear and often have to remind ourselves, if we knew the big pictures we'd take God's will everytime, good or bad at the moment. After all, when Horatio Spafford wrote this hymn, it was not after a joyous occasion. But how it warms my heart to sing it.

His Eye Is On The Sparrow...

...and I know He watches me.

I love to sing. Now, I can't carry a tune in a bucket, but I still like to sing. The Bible doesn't instruct us to sing only if we can carry a tune. It simply says to "make a joyful noise unto the Lord." So, while others (my poor roomie included) may not think it is so joyful, God does. I think I'll highlight a few of my favorite hymns over the next few posts. Hopefully I can find the backstories to them so that we can all learn something in the process.

What A Month!

Wow! It has been a long time since my last post. I cannot believe we are two weeks into February already. I'll try to catch you up as best I can.

1) God is so good. I was dreading working with our outsourcing firm in cross-training my job replacement, but it has become the highlight of my day. I am working with 3 men from India, one from Sri Lanka, and one from Argentina. 2 of the 5 will actually be staying in Knoxville and have lived in the states for several years. The remainder will eventually all be stationed in Buenos Aires and I wish them the best.

2) I do not like the layout of the new Nascar.com. I am not big on change, and that is one change I could do without.

3) I found the missing timeline page from the adventure J and I shared in Brevard last Summer. I will share it with you later this week.

4) Gracie has decided I am her second favorite person on the planet now so she calls a couple of times a week to see when she can come visit or I can come stay with her. Lucky for her, tonight's the night! It is so fun to watch her grow into a beautiful little girl.

5) Another friend got engaged yesterday. What does this make, 10 now? I'm not even sure. Next summer is going to be packed with weddings. I hope they aren't expecting expensive gifts.

I hope you all have a great weekend!
